Spring migration monitoring began on April 30 and ran continuously until June 11. This was the fourth busiest season of 16 spring seasons at the Cape with 3,259 birds banded of 91 species/forms (above average). Higher than average numbers of blue jays, flycatchers, cedar waxwings, and warblers were banded. many species of warbler arrived earlier in May than usual. Seven volunteers contributed a total of 162 volunteer days.


Spring 2007 Highlights:

Black-backed Woodpecker banded on May 3 was the first ever banded at TCBO in the spring
Blue-grey Gnatcatcher banded on May 26 was also the first ever spring banding at TCBO

Highest totals ever banded in spring included Mourning Dove (11), Black-billed Cuckoo (6), Eastern Kingbird (3), Eastern Phoebe (3), Traill's Flycatcher (36), Least Flycatcher (18), Blue Jay (395), Rusty Blackbird (3), Scarlet Tanager (3), Cedar Waxwing (210), Black and White Warbler (66), Magnolia Warbler (118), Blackburnian Warbler (42), Northern Waterthrush (19), Wilson's Warbler (55), American Redstart (33), Gray Catbird (4), Red-breasted Nuthatch (44) and Eastern Bluebird (7).
