Cloud Bay & Correctional Farm
Temperature 16C, visibility good, ground and footing damp due to the previous night's heavy rain. Over a two and a half hour period, 42 mostly common bird species were seen. These included 4 Red-necked Grebe, Wood Duck and 2 Sandhill Cranes. There was a discussion about the adverse effects of a proposed trailer park in the area.Saturday, May 13th, 2000
Hydro Generation Station, Mission Island
Temperature 4.5C, wet under foot with a light to medium rain. 42 bird species were recorded, including Northern Shoveler, Sanderling, Least Sandpiper and Short-billed Dowitcher.Sunday, May 14th, 2000
Hurkett Cove Conservation Area
Sunny and cool, mean temperature 6C, ground dry with good footing but bad windfall. Windy. Lake unusually low. 61 common bird species were seen, including over 400 Double-crested Cormorants, 20 Tundra Swans, Turkey Vultures, Semipalmated Plover, Short-billed Dowitcher, and Bonapartes Gulls.Saturday, October 7th, 2000
Sleeping Giant Outing
Sometimes cloudy, sometimes sunny, with a hint of snow in the air.
24 common species were seen including Pied-billed Grebe, Rough-legged Hawk, Peregrine Falcon, Lesser Golden Plover, American Woodcock, Lapland Longspur. Also seen were a deer, chipmunk and a cow moose with her calf.Saturday, November 4th, 2000
Circum-navigation of the City
Dry and sunny, with mean temperature 2C. During 8 hours, 41 mostly common bird species were recorded. They included Gadwall, Long-tailed Duck, Northern Goshawk, Three-toed Woodpecker, two Northern Shrikes, Blackpoll Warbler and 17 Western Meadowlarks.
