Sphinx Moth

There was an invasion of sorts in the late summer of 2001 when Sphinx Moths were seen in the Thunder Bay District in unprecedented numbers. These southern moths are sometimes confused with hummingbirds as they buzz around garden flowers in late evenings. Photo from September 2001 in Thunder Bay by Heikki Vuorela.
