Thunder Cape Bird Observatory
2000 Annual Report

The year 2000 saw a new Warden at the Cape, Bruce Rodrigues, who is originally from Southern Ontario, but most recently worked at the Atlantic Bird Observatory in the Bay of Fundy. Under Bruce's guidance, the migration monitoring program covered the spring and fall migration periods, and data was collected to fulfill the terms of the contract from the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources. A full account of the migration activity, band recoveries, site improvements, etc. Is available in the TCBO Newsletter, which is put out twice a year, and is free to members of TCBO. Annual membership in TCBO is available at $10.00 per year; please contact the undersigned if you would like to become a member.

This year we were not successful in obtaining any student employment grants, so all Bruce's help came from volunteers, who came from as far away as England and Germany.

I would like to thank all those TBFN members who have helped make the Observatory, through donations, memberships, and volunteer labour, one of the premier bird observatories in Canada. And thanks again to Aarre Ertolahti for developing and maintaining our TCBO website.

Respectfully submitted,
Nick Escott
