The year 1999 saw a new Warden at the Cape, Audrey Heagy, from southern Ontario. Under Audrey's guidance, the migration monitoring program covered the spring and fall migration periods, and data was collected to fulfill the terms of the contract from the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, as usual.Volunteers came from as far as Victoria, BC and Belgium. Several grants were received which, together with memberships and donations, enabled us once again to operate the Observatory in the black. A full account of the migration activity, volunteers, band recoveries, site improvements, etc. is available in the TCBO Newsletter, which is put out twice a year, and is free to members of TCBO.
I would like to thank all those TBFN members who have helped make the Observatory, through donations, memberships, and volunteer labour, one of the premier bird observatories in Canada.
